Fire Pro Wrestling World Release Date and Pre Order Bonus Announced

It’s been a long time in the making but Fire Pro Wrestling World‘s return to the squared circle is nearly upon us. Fans in the West have been waiting with bated breath for a Fire Pro Wrestling World release date. Thankfully, Spike Chunsoft has obliged, and have even thrown in a very special pre-order bonus for those who aren’t going to mess around with reserving a copy.

Drumroll, please. The Fire Pro Wrestling World release date is August 28. As of writing, this is only the confirmed North American date; a European release date has not yet been revealed.

The game, which comes with official NJPW licensing, including the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, will also have an additional bonus for fans of Japan’s premiere wrestling promotion in the form of a NJPW Almanac. This special item will be available as a pre-order bonus on a first-come, first served basis.

For those who are new to the series, Fire Pro Wrestling World is the antithesis to the WWE series of wrestling video games, with its 2D style belying the game’s extremely technical and intricate gameplay. The game’s biggest downfall, the lack of licensed grapplers outside of NJPW, will be remedied by the in-game editor soon after launch. It is expected that the community will be flooded with realistic recreations of everyone from The Rock to even the most obscure wrestlers working on the indie scene today so, as a wrestling fan, there’s a brand-new series ready to join your stable.

Setlist for PlayStation in Concert World Premiere Revealed

PlayStation has had its fair share of killer tracks over the years, hasn’t it? From Uncharted’s swelling score to the airy, ethereal melodies of Journey, there’s something for everyone. Which is why the PlayStation in Concert event was tailor-made for pretty much every fan, young and old. Don’t believe me? Check out the tunes from the unique event’s world premiere.

PlayStation in Concert, which emanated from the world-famous Royal Albert Hall in London, managed to put on quite a show, with every PlayStation console generation being covered. Here’s the PS1 setlist in full to kick things off:

  • Crash Bandicoot Medley
  • Warhawk Theme
  • Resident Evil Medley
  • MediEvil End Titles
  • Theme of Arc The Lad

While that ranged from the niche to the instantly iconic, PlayStation 2 and PSP’s set of toe-tappers, conducted by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra may have bettered even that quintet.

  • ICO Castle in the Mist & You Were There
  • Dark Cloud Main Theme
  • The World of flOw
  • LittleBigPlanet The Gardens
  • Prime #7 from Echochrome
  • Moss: Quite as a Mouse… With a Sword

After the interval, if you managed to catch your breath, you were treated to some of the best and most recognizable songs in video games. Not too shabby for a night out.

  • Killzone 2: Birth of War
  • Wonderbook: Book of Spells Theme
  • Journey: Apotheosis
  • The Last of Us Theme
  • Bloodborne: The First Hunter
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn: Years of Training and Aloy’s Theme
  • Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture: The Light We Cast
  • The Order 1886: The Knight’s Theme
  • Blood and Truth: Ryan Marks
  • God of War Main Theme
  • The Last Guardian: Overture: Lore

Vampyr Launch Trailer Brings the Pain, Ups the Stakes

The Vampyr launch trailer is here ahead of its June 5 release and, in keeping with the game’s marketing so far, it’s downtrodden, gloomy, and gives very little away. Still, there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck into should you want a taste of bloody battles and the like. Dracula’s got nothing on these guys.

Developers Dontnod, of Remember Me and Life is Strange fame, are accustomed to things being a little brighter and peppier than where we find our protagonist (if you want to call him) Dr. Jonathan Reid, a vampire stalking the streets of early-20th Century London.

Throughout the Vampyr launch trailer we’re treated to a series of shots that show off Reid’s bloodlust, including the effect it inevitably has on those around him. This isn’t going to be a game for the faint-hearted: werewolves, vampire hunters and some probable ear-grating Cockney accents will be skulking around in the shadows, eagerly awaiting to strike at the doctor-turned-vampire. The morality system, too, is at play in the launch trailer, with the good (or bad, depending on how you play) doctor treating a patient before being chased off by a crucifix-wielding stranger.

It may be a slight shame that we’ve been given very little in the way of gameplay for Vampyr, in fact, I can’t remember a big release with so much mystery shrouding its mechanics bar Death Stranding, but it all adds to the aesthetic. Vampyr is a game that, like the fanged bloodsuckers themselves, will creep up on you and catch you by surprise, necessitating another trip to the (blood) bank. Let’s hope it’s worth it.

The Third Official Trailer for Record of Grancrest War Confirms Post-Launch Free Updates

Bandai Namco has published the third major promotional trailer for the Record of Grancrest War game in Japan. This is a strategy RPG based on the novel and anime of the same title created by Ryo Mizuno of Record of Lodoss War fame.

In this Grancrest game, the player will control up to eight units in their army in a battlefield. Each unit can be given orders to move along a specific route or attack a certain enemy. The player can even directly control any of the unit leaders in action-style by attacking with combos. You can read our previous coverage on Grancrest‘s second trailer to learn more about the game’s gameplay system.

In this trailer, Bandai Namco has also announced that Record of Grancrest War will receive post-release free updates that will add even more content to this strategy RPG game. Here are some examples of the features that will be added through post-launch updates.

Demonic Dungeons which will have varying walkthroughs and difficulties, and Abyss Dungeons where strong enemies are lying in wait, will appear in the World Map. Aim for even higher challenges with a well-trained army.

New Heroic Unit characters which have powerful skills and equipment useful in the walkthrough will be added. Try out a lot of combinations and expand your strategy breadth.

Furthermore, in the Rivalry of Warlords Mode, you will be able to unify the land with characters other than Theo. Enjoy the world of Record of Grancrest War which will expand even further after release!

Record of Grancrest War will be released exclusively for PlayStation 4 in Japan on June 14. An English localization has not been announced yet for this game.

Faction Rallies Return To Destiny 2 Next Week With Some Big Changes

Destiny 2 faction rallies

Faction Rallies is a periodic event in Destiny 2 that actually went back into the workshop for quite a while following critical player feedback. Starting June 5 and running through June 12, Destiny 2 Faction Rallies return, and they’re quite a bit different from what you might remember.

The biggest change is that you can now only pledge to a single faction per account. This means no more loading up on New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future War Cult across all three of your characters. As a player, you’ll have to pick one and commit for the week. You’ll be able to swap who you are pledged to for the next event, but each weekly event will limit you to one single faction. That might not seem like a huge deal, but the new rewards available make this decision a very meaningful choice.

Vendors now have seasonal progression, much like the Vanguard or Iron Banner. Earning Faction Tokens and turning them in will increase this rank. Special Exotic armor ornaments are available by reaching a certain rank with each faction, and specific Exotic Masterwork weapon catalysts can be acquired by hitting rank fifty.

  • Dead Orbit will offer the Eye of Another World (Warlock) ornament and the Graviton Lance Catalyst
  • New Monarchy will offer the Crest of Alpha Lupi (Titan) ornament and the Sweet Business Catalyst
  • Future War Cult will offer the Knucklehead Radar (Hunter) ornament and the Sunshot Catalyst

If you want one of those specific rewards during this first Season 3 Faction Rallies, you’ll have to pledge to that specific faction and let the other rewards go until the next one rolls around. Most players are expecting Dead Orbit to be the clear winner this time around, as they are offering the Graviton Lance catalyst. Graviton Lance is a current favorite in the Crucible for its quick time-to-kill, and the Masterwork will only improve it.

Bungie is planning to host three Faction Rallies over the course of Season 3, so it will be possible to earn all of the unique rewards. You can get a look at the gear for each faction in the gallery below. The weapons are the rewards for the winners, but will be available in the standard loot pool in the following event.

The next big change is how you’ll earn those tokes to rank up. The goal for the team was to create something that was a unique gameplay experience, and not just a reward layer for existing gameplay. To change up how players experience Faction Rallies, Bungie added a Renown system.

    • After pledging to a faction, players may earn Renown by completing a public event or patrol, or by defeating high-value targets on destinations
    • Players who loot a Lost Sector with Renown active will receive significantly more faction tokens than usual—the more stacks of Renown they have, the more faction tokens they earn
    • Renown is lost when players are defeated by enemies, so be careful when you’re attempting to loot a Lost Sector with high Renown!
  • Renown increases the level of challenge in gameplay
    • Health regeneration is vastly reduced (all stack levels)
      • Enemy kills have a chance to drop health orbs (all stack levels)
    • Player damage decreased (scales with stack, up to 5)
    • Incoming damage increased (scales with stack, up to 5)

In addition to this, when Renown is active on your character, other players will be able to see a faction aura on your back, highlighting which of the three you chose to support.

Destiny 2 Season 3 Faction Rallies Auras

As usual, Bungie will be collecting and monitoring feedback, making tweaks and adjustments as they need to. As a Destiny player, I had thought Faction Rallies were quite boring originally. This change brings a level of excitement and difficulty to the event, along with a pretty good chase and reason to keep coming back and playing more.

Faction Rallies isn’t the only thing coming June 5. Bungie also set that date to reveal Destiny 2 Year 2 with a live stream that will take place at 9 am Pacific. That’s reset time, so if you plan on jumping into Faction Rallies right away, have a device available nearby to stream the reveal.

Fate/Extella Link’s New Action System Explained With This New Short Trailer

After Dengeki had uploaded a lengthy Fate/Extella Link multiplayer gameplay trailer yesterday, Marvelous followed up today by publishing a much shorter new trailer which, in just one minute, briefly explains the new action systems in this hack-and-slash game featuring characters from the Fate metaseries.

Fate/Extella Link has greatly modified its action system from its predecessor The Umbral Star. The Moon Drive and Noble Phantasm systems have been revised with new gauges that now made it more similar to Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors games. Fill the blue gauge below the health bar to activate Moon Drive, and fill the yellow gauge while Moon Drive is active to unleash the Servant’s Noble Phantasm attack.

Link also adds Active Skills, where up to four additional moves can be equipped to a Servant. These skills can be unleashed by holding a shoulder button then pressing any of the four face buttons, but be advised that they have cooldown time after being used. Finally, unlike The Umbral Star, the Master will also appear on the battlefield, and the player who controls the Servant must defend the Master’s field at all costs.

Fate/Extella Link will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita first in Japan on June 7, and an English localization is coming later this Winter. Don’t forget to check out the Japanese launch live stream on June 6 as Marvelous and Type-Moon will deliver some more information about the game just before the Japanese release.
