If those tools aren’t enough to get a hair-raising result, try the painting feature! Whether you’re adding a few spots, a bright color to the nose, or using stencils to create more complicated patterns, customizing your pets is fun and simple. Plus, drumroll please…we have costumes for cats and dogs! What’s that you say? You want your pup to go swimming while dressed as a shark? Your wish is our command, along with so many more adorable scenarios!

French Gambling Regulator Refrains From Labeling Loot Boxes as Gambling

Loot Boxes

The contentious issue of loot boxes in video games has prompted a variety of responses from authorities in various countries. The Dutch and Belgian authorities, for example, have taken swift action and have announced that publishers who don’t meet their guidelines might face legal action. The French gambling regulator, on the other hand, is refraining from defining loot boxes as gambling.

In a recently published report, the Autorité de regulation des jeux en ligne (ARJEL) has criticized loot boxes but says that a “combined and coordinated” action plan is required to deal with them, according to a translation and analysis of the report by media law associate Sebastian Schwiddessen. ARJEL believes that regulation of loot boxes would require input from several institutions including gambling authorities, consumer protection authorities, financial and banking regulators, and data protection authorities. ARJEL wants European financial regulators, for instance, to step in and provide a more “coherent” analysis of microtransactions.

But does ARJEL believe loot boxes can be considered gambling? The authority believes that for loot boxes to qualify as gambling, the items contained within them must have real-life monetary value, and adds that it’s currently investigating the possibility of selling loot box-generated items.

Schwiddessen’s anlysis of the report suggests that ARJEL is reluctant to take solo action and is seeking further clarification from several authorities for a combined effort to address loot boxes. However, don’t expect an outcome anytime soon. It also seems unlikely that ARJEL will follow the Belgian and Dutch authorities’ footsteps.

Amy Hennig on Uncharted’s Future: There’s Plenty of Material to Continue the Series With

uncharted series

Naughty Dog has hinted on several occasions that it’s ready to put the Uncharted series to rest following the release of A Thief’s End. However, many have suggested that the series could continue with a different character such as Nathan Drake’s daughter Cassie. Former Uncharted writer Amy Hennig agrees.

Speaking to GameReactor during Gamelab in Barcelona, Hennig said that the developers can “always jump back” into Uncharted as there’s a lot of material that they could continue with.

How would you continue it? I mean, that’s tough, because they kind of wrapped it up with a bow and had the flash forward. Look, I think there’s a lot of material there that you could continue with: Cassie, with the daughter, you could do flashback stories with Nathan Drake… you just look at Indiana Jones; there’s really not a limit. You can always jump back in and tell a story with an older character and that gives a whole different color to it, which is kind of cool, and you could do sort of the Young Indiana Jones version of Nathan Drake if you wanted to. I’m excited, because it sounds like the filmmakers are gonna do that actually with the Uncharted film and go back to an earlier time and stuff like that.

Do our readers agree with Hennig? If yes, what do you want to see next in the Uncharted series?

God of War Had a Creepy Enemy Type That Didn’t Make the Cut

god of war enemy

Sony Santa Monica’s senior character artist, Arda Koyuncu, has shared images of a rather creepy-looking God of War enemy type that didn’t make it into the final game. With four partially blackened arms, hollow eye sockets, and skulls hanging from his waist, the Drummer really does look like the stuff nightmares are made of.

Take a look at the concept art below.

Drummer is based on an original concept by Dela Longfish, a Lead Character Concept Artist at Santa Monica studio. “I modeled, textured and made the material setup of Drummer from scratch,” writes Koyuncu on his ArtStation page. “Later on during the production we decided the cut the character from the final game. I used the props I modeled for the character for different purposes here and there in the game instead.”

Koyuncu didn’t go into details about why the enemy was cut from God of War‘s final version or what ideas he had, if any, about how it was going behave within the game had it been included.

You can check out more of Koyuncu’s artwork on his ArtStation profile, which showcases several other designs from God of War including Magni and Thamur.

What do our readers think of the Drummer?
