Here’s When You Can Expect to Start Seeing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Mercenary Live Events

ac odyssey mercenary live events

The first of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey‘s Mercenary Live Events was scheduled to begin on October 17, 2018 and offer players high-level bounties to hunt and eliminate. From there, Ubisoft planned on hosting a new event each week. Unfortunately, things failed to launch as intended, with many users reporting issues. The event was pulled and rescheduled. Ubisoft has not yet implemented a fix, but a statement from the development team suggests the events should be back in working order within a few weeks.

The statement issued via Ubisoft’s forums page said,

We hope you’re enjoying your time exploring the land and sea of Ancient Greece! We’d like to provide an update on the status of the Epic Mercenary events.

Two weeks ago, when we attempted to launch the first Epic Mercenary Event with Damais the Indifferent, we discovered that the content didn’t properly appear for a majority of our players. It wasn’t satisfactory to have an event available to only a portion of our players, so we decided to temporarily remove the Epic Mercenary Events from the game altogether until the issue is resolved. We are working on a fix and are hoping to introduce them later this month. We will provide an updated ETA as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we will activate 1x Epic Ship Event each week moving forward. And as a thank you for your patience and understanding, we will be activating a discount of -80 Orichalcum for the Legendary item that Sargon (Oikos of the Olympians) will sell next week.

There’s still plenty of new content to access in Odyssey’s Ancient Greek setting while you wait. Recently, patch 1.0.6 added The Lost Tales of Greece, story content free to all who own the game. The patch also addressed several reported issues, such as the inability to recruit Evie and Bayek as Lieutenants aboard the Adrestia.

NPD Reveals the Top-Selling U.S. Vita Games List, and It’s Not Pretty

playstation vita games sales

The PlayStation Vita is known by many as the little handheld that could. Seemingly against all odds, the Vita kept on pushing through, maintaining a loyal, yet relatively small, fanbase. The NPD Group recently revealed the ten best-selling Vita titles in the United States, and the decision to end production on the Vita is becoming a little more clear.

Here are the best-selling PlayStation Vita games in the U.S.:

  1. Uncharted: Golden Abyss
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified
  3. Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation
  4. Mortal Kombat (2011)
  5. Little Big Planet
  6. Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)
  7. Killzone: Mercenary
  8. Persona 4 Golden (physical sales only)
  9. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
  10. Unit 13

Perhaps the most fascinating, yet upsetting, thing about this list, is that these are all very early Vita titles. Killzone: Mercenary is the only title released outside of 2012 to make it on this list, and that released in 2013.

In addition, these are all the high-profile, console-quality games that the Vita promised in its early years. It later became a haven for JRPGs and indie games, though the only RPG on the list is Persona 4 Golden.

In addition, ResetEra admin ZhugeEx chimed in with some somewhat shocking news. Uncharted: Golden Abyss only managed to sell around 400K units in its lifetime. When combined, the sales for all ten games is roughly that of Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 during the almost two months after its September 7, 2018 launch.

It may not have necessarily been a sales success, but the Vita is beloved by many. Despite the struggles it faced in its lifetime, the Vita managed to carve itself a place in history.

Here’s the Final Fallout 76 B.E.T.A Schedule, Use Those Extra Codes

Fallout 76 Beta Schedule
The tentative Fallout 76 B.E.T.A was set to run until November 4, 2018, but fans are being given a bit more time with the game. The final session will take place this week, as tweeted out by Bethesda Studios. Make time on November 6 and 8, 2018!

Previously, the B.E.T.A was only available to those who had preordered Fallout 76. But now, if you’ve preordered on or before November 1, 2018, you get three additional B.E.T.A codes to give out. It’s worth noting that these codes can only be used for the platform you preordered on. That means if you’re a PlayStation 4 player, your additional B.E.T.A codes will only work on the PlayStation 4.

This news came as a bit of a surprise, considering how strict Bethesda’s Senior VP of Global Marketing, Pete Hines, seemed when it came to preorders being a requirement for the B.E.T.A. At the same time, this isn’t an example of him going back on his word. There still isn’t an open B.E.T.A available without preordering. This is a loophole to access the exclusive B.E.T.A without preordering. All you need is a little help from your friends.

Fallout 76 will release on November 14, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Bethesda Will Provide ‘Never-Ending’ Support for Fallout 76

fallout 76 support

Fallout 76 marks a new step for the series, forgoing core tenets such as NPCs and a traditional narrative in favor of a shared open-world. What happens, then, if the servers keeping said open-world functioning are shut down? Hopefully, it’s not something fans will need to worry about. Similar to Blizzard’s continued work with World of Warcraft, Bethesda aims to keep Fallout 76 fully operational for years to come.

Bethesda Marketing Boss Pete Hines explained that neither the publisher nor the developer are thinking of how long the game will last. However, the intention is to maintain support for Fallout 76 as long as players actively play. Hines told GameSpot in an interview,

How long is Fallout 76 going to be up? Forever. I don’t know how to give an answer other than that. It’s not like anybody makes a game and goes, ‘Well this is going to make it for 10 years if we’re lucky.’ Nobody thinks that way. How long has WoW been up now? Is that game planning to sunset in a year? I seriously doubt it.

We’re going to keep going as long as people keep playing it and it shows no sign of slowing down. Once we get to private servers or whatever happens in the years following; I don’t know. Maybe there’s a point where it doesn’t matter. But… this is a massive franchise and a massive undertaking, and our commitment to it is it is never-ending, and that it continues on an ongoing basis

While we know about the content available at launch, Bethesda has yet to detail its “aggressive” post-launch plans. It’ll be intriguing to see how a title like this maintains player interest for an indefinite period of time.

Fallout 76 will arrive on the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on November 14, 2018.

UK Sales Chart: Red Dead Redemption 2 Has Set Up Camp

Red Dead Redemption 2 Sales

Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to find success,  as it has taken the number one spot on the UK sales charts again. The game sold more physical copies than its predecessor, despite Red Dead Redemption having released eight years ago. In fact, RDR2 had the biggest opening weekend in entertainment history.  It’s no surprise that the game remains at the top.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Red Dead Redemption 2 is having “the most successful second week for a game recorded all year.” This includes FIFA 19, which was 2018’s fastest selling game in the UK. Considering RDR2‘s immense popularity, the only question is how long the game can keep this streak going. Earlier this year we saw Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy dominate the UK sales charts for eight consecutive weeks. We’ll see if RDR2 can have a similar run.

With the online component of the game launching sometime in November 2018, fans will have even more reasons to buy RDR2. Rockstar has yet to provide further details on Red Dead Online although dataminers have drawn their own conclusions. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more information develops.

Below are the top ten games on the UK Sales chart, for the week ending on November 3, 2018.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
3. FIFA 19
4. Forza Horizon 4
5. Spider-Man
6. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
7. Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
8. LEGO Harry Potter Collection
9. Football Manager 2019
10. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
