Playstation and Xbox Exclusives Fight in Virtual Vendetta
YouTube channel NicksFlicks recently dropped a preview of its live-action short Virtual Vendetta, teasing a lengthier preview that will stream live on Saturday, October 6. The concept is a cool one: What happens in a world where the console exclusive characters of both PlayStation and Xbox engage in an all out war?
In a universe where consoles are reimagined as planets and games reimagined as sectors, what would it take for worlds to collide? Who will reign victorious? Xbox vs Playstation, it is time to settle this once and for all.
This preview will be deleted immediately after it’s shown, so fans who miss it won’t be able to see it again until December when the series officially launches. We’ll be watching Kratos go toe-to-toe with the Master Chief, so I’d say we’re all in for a very entertaining show.
What characters would you like to see beat the stuffing out of each other in the series? Shout out in the comments!
Xbox One Games We Wish Were on PS4
Cuphead
While it's not out yet, Cuphead has already found an adoring fanbase thanks to its gorgeous visual style. It's not just all flair, though, as it's a very challenging 2D action platformer in its own right. Both times I've played it, I've come away impressed by how polished the gameplay feels.
D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die
The very eccentric Swery is simply too pure for this world. We do not deserve him. It's only fitting then that D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die was never finished. His exceptionally weird mystery would've eclipsed gaming as a medium, but it's still fun to speculate about what could've been.
Forza Horizon 3
Gran Turismo is great (and why Forza Motorsport didn't quite make our list), but there's nothing on PS4 quite like Forza Horizon. The open-world racer features some incredible visuals, an awesome world, and some of the best DLC ever made. The Hot Wheels expansion in particular is a ton of fun, and who could pass up driving those iconic toy cars past dinosaurs?
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Let's face it: Killzone never lived up to its "Halo killer" marketing, and Bungie's first-person shooter reigned supreme. The Master Chief Collection allows players to relive the majority of the franchise, and would show Sony-only console owners what they've been missing.
Killer Instinct
This generation of consoles has been great for fighting games, but the one I've spent the most time playing is Killer Instinct. Iron Galaxy has done a great job iterating upon Double Helix's reboot, and it's almost become a serious version of Smash Bros. with the inclusions of several Xbox icons.
Ori and the Blind Forest
Beautiful. Both visually and thematically, few games are as gorgeous as Ori and the Blind Forest. It's one of the best Metroidvania titles in a decade, and is a must-play for platforming fans.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
Microsoft typically doesn't get as many third-party console exclusives as Sony, but they really hit the jackpot when they lined up PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The shooter has taken the PC world by storm, and there's a ton of hype for the upcoming console version.
Screamride
Frontier Developments are best known for their theme park and space sims, but Screamride was a chance for them to go wild. Part construction simulator and part puzzle game, the game features three different modes that have players wreaking havoc. All three are a blast, and it's nice to see Frontier showing a different side to them.
Sunset Overdrive
Insomniac might be best known for their work on Spyro and Ratchet and Clank, but their best game is (weirdly) an Xbox One exclusive. Sunset Overdrive is some of the most fun gamers can have in an open-world, and features a goofy sense of humor throughout. Hopefully Spider-Man will be able to top it.
Zoo Tycoon
It's easy to mock Kinect at this point, but one of my favorite experiences early on in this generation was playing with the animals in Zoo Tycoon. It's also a really great park builder title (and you can get in golf carts that look like animals), but I'm mainly there to play with virtual animals.
