Awesome Games Done Quick is getting closer and closer, and now one of the most exciting parts of the yearly build is upon us. It isn’t 100% final yet, but the folks running the event have released the initial games list, which includes streamers, categories, projected times, and of course the hardware each game is running on.
The list is pretty huge, and predictably has a lot of Nintendo and PC tags. But there are a surprisingly high number of PlayStation appearances, which I’ll list below:
- Another World – PlayStation 4
- Ape Escape – PlayStation 2
- Bloodborne – PlayStation 4
- Castlevania Chronicles – PSTV (Whoa!)
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night – PSTV
- Final Fantasy IX – PlayStation 2
- God of War II – PlayStation 3
- Jak 3 – PlayStation 2
- Klonoa: Door to Phantomile – PlayStation 2
- Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake – PlayStation 2
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty – PlayStation 3
- Monster World IV – PlayStation 3
- Shadow of the Colossus (2018) – PlayStation 4
- Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace – PlayStation
- Timesplitters 2 – PlayStation 2
- Trio the Punch: Never Forget Me – PlayStation 2
There are a couple caveats to the list. It contains only games that have an accepted (or bonus) category at the moment. There are also backup runs that aren’t listed. Finally, if the speedrunners don’t register for the event in time, runs could possibly be removed.
Registration is open for Awesome Games Done Quick 2019, which will be held on January 6-13, 2019 at Rockville, Maryland.
What PlayStation Classic Games Do You Want?
With the PlayStation Classic now confirmed, we asked the PSLS staff what games they want to see come with the mini console.
Chandler Wood
Metal Gear Solid is my top pick. It's a defining PS1 game, and I think the PlayStation Classic needs to be loaded with games that defined the system. I'd also love to see Twisted Metal 2, and while I want other Final Fantasy games, I also think that one FF game in Final Fantasy VII is enough. There are only 20 spots after all.
Michael Briers
A long shot this but I'd love to see Vigilante 8 and/or Future Cop LAPD.
Jenni Lada
It is completely unrealistic, but I want Bust a Groove on there. I need an easy way to dance along to "Sora to Umi to Niji no Yume," "2 Bad," and "I luv hamburgers."
Keri Honea
There had better be some Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on there.
Cameron Teague
I would love for Suikoden and Twisted Metal.
Uros Pavlovic
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

I second a request for Grand Theft Auto 2, alongside Twisted Metal. Would be great to see. But why should we have to put a wishlist together? A console like this should include storage space, and a store to simply buy classics that we want...But then I guess it might not also only be $100...Oh well.
Anthony Severino
Great suggestions so far from the PSLS team. Twisted Metal and Symphony of the Night are musts, IMO. Would also like to see Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Wipeout, FF Tactics (my fav game ever), Silent Hill, or any other games that helped propel PlayStation into stardom.
Heath Hindman
Hard to remember which ones really need analog sticks.
The system was an absolute RPG powerhouse, so it's great to see Final Fantasy VII and Wild ARMs on there right off the bat. I say add Breath of Fire III and Valkyrie Profile for sure, maybe Final Fantasy Tactics if they feel there's room for more than one FF on there.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night's a no-brainer.
Wipeout 3 to get a racer in there, Intelligent Qube because it's timeless and amazing, and is Tomb Raider too redone and too far along now to revisit it by putting Tomb Raider II on this thing? That one had tank-control gameplay doable without analog sticks IIRC, saving anywhere instead of just stupid crystals, and it's the one where Lara's boobs stopped being triangles...
...So I hear...from my...friend....
