Check Out Some Battlefield V Closed Alpha Gameplay

DICE is currently running a Battlefield V closed alpha test on PC, videos from which have surfaced online, thanks to the lack of a non-disclosure agreement. There are quite a few videos making rounds but the footage embedded above is of high quality, and offers a glimpse of the Conquest mode and Fall of Norway campaign. While PC footage isn’t representative of Battlefield V‘s console versions, it gives us a good idea of what to expect and there’s no doubt that the game will look gorgeous on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. Without further ado, check it out!

DICE has promised fans the most immersive Battlefield multiplayer experience yet. “Battlefield V is a homecoming for DICE as a studio – a return to the era that came to define the Battlefield franchise,” said general manager Oskar Gabrielson last month. “The scale of each battle and level of immersion is unlike anything we’ve done before in Battlefield and players are in for an epic journey.”

War Stories are also set to return in Battlefield V. From freezing Norway to the scorching North African desert, there will be plenty of stunning landscapes for players to traverse.

Battlefield V will release worldwide on October 19 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

EA Vancouver’s Star Wars Team Includes Sleeping Dogs and Prototype Devs

ea vancouver star wars

Electronic Arts Vancouver’s upcoming Star Wars game, which the studio took over following Visceral’s closure, is being developed by a team that comprises of Sleeping Dogs and Prototype veterans among others. This was revealed by Motive Studios’ general manager Jade Raymond in an interview with Game Informer, during which she was asked what made Vancouver the right team to work on an open-world Star Wars game considering its background in sports titles.

Raymond said that Vancouver was already co-developing Ragtag (Amy Hennig‘s project) and has a “super, super strong” core team that has previously worked on “non-sports stuff” in addition to new hires. “There are people who worked on Sleeping Dogs, a bunch of people who worked on Prototype, some who worked on a new IP that was kind of open world,” she explained. “So, there is a mix of people from the original team and people who we supplemented.”

When Game Informer asked Raymond if Vancouver planned to salvage some of the work from Hennig’s project, she declined to share any details but did say that there are “three terabytes” of artwork and a lot of “really good work” that’s worth using. “There’s the goal of making sure we use all that,” she revealed.

Evolve Developer Turtle Rock Working on a ‘Globally Known’ Franchise

turtle rock studios

ResetEra users have spotted a job advertisement on Turtle Rock Studios’ website, which seeks a Senior Level Designer for an unannounced AAA game that is part of a “globally known” franchise. At the moment, it’s unclear if this project is different than the co-op first-person shooter with elements of dark fantasy that Turtle Rock said it was working on in December 2016. That unannounced title was expected to release this year.

The advertisement states:

Looking to work on a globally known game franchise? Join our exceptional development team as a Senior Level Designer on an unannounced AAA title. Do you love creating awesome level layouts and designing fun encounters? Do you enjoy watching people play through your levels and collaborating to make them even better? The job will require working closely with artists, engineers, and other designers to create awesome content.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Work with the Lead Designer and design team to create compelling levels for the game
  • Create competitive and balanced map layouts

Speculation suggests that Turtle Rock could be working on the next entry in Microsoft’s Left 4 Dead franchise but the possibility of the studio collaborating with a major publisher on a multiplatform title can’t be ruled out.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
