After making a splash at E3 2018, Cyberpunk 2077 recently became the topic of conversation once more. It was all thanks to CD Projekt RED releasing 48 minutes of gameplay. During the demo, gunplay, driving, and dialogue were shown off. Naturally, what garnered the most attention was gunplay, which a majority of fans seem impressed by.
However, one nagging issue is the HUD. At times, the screen appears crowded with details, including damage numbers for enemies. Thankfully, according to CD Projekt’s Community Lead, Marcin Momot, many HUD settings are optional.
Days ahead of the gameplay reveal, a fan inquired about the HUD on Twitter. Based on impressions from news outlets that saw the demo during E3 2018 and gamescom 2018, the fan wanted to know whether the damage numbers could be toggled off. Momot replied to the question with the following tweet:
We are planning on allowing players to turn off/on a lot of the HUD elements.

Momot’s response did not detail specifically what players will have control over, with regards to the HUD. However, the ability to disable damage numbers does not seem beyond the realm of possibility. Considering The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had an impressive number of HUD and User Interface options, CD Projekt RED’s providing similar options for Cyberpunk 2077 shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
Some form of Cyberpunk 2077 may currently be playable from start to finish, but the studio still isn’t ready to talk a potential release date just yet.
