The world of video game collectibles has quite a range to it, from cheap, little blind box toys you can pick up at GameStop to boutique statues that probably cost more than your monthly share of rent. Capcom is going above and beyond with a new item to celebrate 30 years of Mega Man. It is making small statues made of solid gold.
This Mega Man statue comes in two configurations. One for the slightly wealthy, and one for the people who blow their noses with Benjamins. The big boy, which is only about four inches tall, is about 3.2 ounces of the good stuff. Taking him home to display on top of your shelf of books with their covers removed that you’ve never read will run about 2.4 million yen, or over $20,000.
If you’re in more of a baller on a budget situation, you can get a smaller figure, which is a 2.3 inches and just under an ounce of gold robot boy, that’s 690,000 yen. It comes out to roughly $6,227.
Both figures are 99.99% 24-carat gold and are available for preorder as of today.
If you’re a Mega Man fan who doesn’t possess an infinite supply of money, you can always wait for Mega Man 11, which will have a physical release when it drops on October 2, 2018.
