Destiny 2 Forsaken Launch Trailer Gives the Guardian a Voice Again
We’re days away from the launch of Forsaken, the latest expansion for Destiny 2 that Bungie and Activision are calling, “transformative.” To make sure all the Destiny-heads are still excited, a new launch trailer has been released that delves further into the story of the expansion, shows off some of the bosses, and drops a big ol’ megaton reveal that longtime Destiny fans have been wanting for ages.
Here’s the Destiny 2: Forsaken trailer:
It looks like the player’s Guardian has a voice again. Sure, it’s sad that Cayde is dead and all, but we’ll surely be busting into the Reef and making Uldren Sov and his Barons crew collectively pay for their crimes over and over again. But more importantly, the Guardian spoke!
If the trailer isn’t enough and you’re still starved for Destiny 2 content ahead of Forsaken dropping next week on September 4, 2018, you won’t be left hanging for too long. Bungie will be dropping another Destiny 2 ViDoc later today, so stay tuned to Bungie’s social media platforms around 11 am PT /2 pm ET for that.
Also, don’t forget that on September 1, 2018, Bungie is dropping a free trial of the new Gambit mode into the game for about 24 hours. Gambit is a hybrid PvE/PvP mode meant to appeal to a full range of player types.
Meet the Destiny 2 Forsaken Barons
These eight leaders of the undead Fallen are the latest challenges that Guardians will face. Here's what makes each of them unique.
The Rider
Real Name: Yaviks
Yaviks is the leader of a gang of fiercely loyal pike riders. She rides a custom heavy pike that leaves a wake of fire behind it. Players will have to meet her on that battlefield under equal footing, riding a pike themselves.
Yaviks has terrorized Awoken and Fallen outposts across the reef, with hundreds of kills notched on her belt.
The Rifleman
Real Name: Pirrha
This Baron has a record of taking out Gaurdian's Ghosts at a distance before killing the Guardians themselves. Word is Pirrha never misses a shot.
Pirrha has a cybernetic eye that keeps overwatch on his fellow Barons. Good luck getting close to this sharpshooter. Most are dead before they even know they are close.
The Mad Bomber
Real Name: Kaniks
What else would you expect from an actor known as The Mad Bomber? Kaniks loves to blow stuff up. Being close to so many explosions has driven the Mad Bomber, well, mad.
Keep aware of your surroundings. Kaniks doesn't mind leveling an entire area just to kill his target.
The Hangman
Real Name: Reksis Vahn
Reksis is a sadist. He will torture Servitors with his bare hands. Torture always precludes the death of his victims. He tears apart Servitors because of their representation of the Traveler and order with the Fallen houses. Using their ether, he keeps his followers in a mad craze.
He swings a flaming spike ball around that can leave a trail of fire on the ground.
The Trickster
Real Name: Araskes
Araskes would rather not be seen. She prefers to work in the shadows and behind the scenes, assisting the Barons in their operations from the dark places of the Reef.
Very little skill in battle, Araskes has honed her mind to play a masterful game of chess, manipulating her enemies before they can ever get close to her. Watch out for her cloaking teach and deadly surprises.
The Mindbender
Real Name: Hiraks
Hiraks was once a Dreg runt who fell into the Hellmouth on the moon. His obsession with the Hive led to him carving out his own little throne world in a pocket of the Ascendant realm, where he commands Hive and has even become part Hive himself.
He likes to unravel the minds of his enemies, and even brainwashed Uldren's Crows to fuel tensions between Earth and the Reef.
The Machinist
Real Name: Elykris
Elykris is the second-in-command of the Barons, under The Fanatic. She's a hoarder and a thief with an insane arsenal. She'll throw everything she's got at you in battle.
The Fanatic
Real Name: Fikrul
The leader of the Barons and second only to Uldren, The Fanatic was not one of the Barons that Cayde was able to return to the Prison of Elders. Fikrul sees the Scorn as the ultimate evolution of the Fallen.
Fikrul sowed discontent among the other Barons when he was outcast from an ancient house, eventually becoming their leader. He's said to have power only found in the European Dead Zone. Could they mean that The Fanatic is imbued with the Traveler's Light?
