Red Bull Ring and New Cars Come With GT Sport 1.25
A new update rolls out today for GT Sport, bringing the game up to version 1.25. This update introduces the Red Bull Ring track, new events for GT League, and a healthy list of new cars.
Here’s the official list of additions, per the PlayStation Blog:
New Vehicles
Rolling into Brand Central are eight stunning new vehicles, including legends of motor racing history like the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupé and Ford Mark IV Race Car.
Ford Mark IV Race Car ’67
Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupé ‘64
Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo
Abarth 500 ‘09
Abarth 1500 Biposto Bertone B.A.T 1 ‘52
Volkswagen 1200 ‘66
Mini-Cooper ‘S’ ‘65
Lancia DELTA HF Integrale Evoluzione ‘91
New Track – Red Bull Ring
Located in the stunning landscape of Styria, Austria, the Red Bull Ring is an intense high-speed circuit combining tight corners and long flat-out straights. While the course layout appears simple, its hilly topography makes it far more challenging than it initially seems. The full track as well as a short version has been included, and both are playable in reverse.
GT League
New to the ever-expanding collection of GT League Events, we’ve introduced three additional challenges for drivers of all experience levels, including:
Beetle & Samba Bus Festa – Beginner League
Group 3 Cup – Amateur League
Nostalgic 1979 – Professional League
Additional Updates
In Sport Mode, players can now view an “Archive” of previous championship rankings, as well as measure and test their network quality. Players can also now explore the Zagato Museum, and in Scapes Mode, a special section on Cuba has been added. Finally, last month’s scenic Saint-Croix circuit has been added to the Circuit Experience.
You can see a nice breakdown of some of this new content in a video posted to the official PlayStation YouTube channel as well:
GT Sport released for the PlayStation 4 in October 2017 and has been getting new content ever since.
Vehicles We Want in Gran Turismo Sport
Daxtermobile
The Daxtermobile might not be the most canonically sound vehicle from Jak X, but it's certainly the coolest looking one. The car, which was unlocked by transferring over a 100% complete Daxter PSP save file, is just a giant version of the ottsel's head. It's really dumb in the best of ways.
Deacon St. John's Big Hog
There's not much character about Days Gone, but I do know that the zombie game's protagonist has a big hog that'd make James Ellsworth jealous. Typically the Gran Turismo series doesn't feature bikes (that's what Tourist Trophy was for), which would make this a cool addition.
Everybody's Golf Carts
I'm still mourning the death of the Hot Shots Golf name, but I can still sense a good marketing opportunity when I see one. By including a golf cart from Everybody's Golf, Sony could make more players aware that there is an excellent golfing game to play on the system.
inFamous Telephone Lines
Okay. I'm being a bit loose with the term vehicle, but it's my article so you're just gonna have to deal with it. In the inFamous series, players can ride around on telephone lines and it's one of the more enjoyable forms of open-world traversal. I think it'd be absolutely hilarious to have Cole MacGrath riding an ever-expanding telephone line through Gran Turismo courses. Is it just me that finds it entertaining? Well, then.
Morgana
While mc chris may have a car that transforms into a boat, the Persona 5 protagonist has a cat that transforms into a van. Driving around Morgana is one of the true joys of Atlus' latest RPG, and allowing him to see the world via Gran Turismo would make me incredibly happy.
Nathan Drake's Jeep
A lot of Uncharted 4 felt stale to me, but they did try to freshen up the gameplay with some additions. One of the coolest ones was the ability to actually drive a jeep around a beautiful digital version of Madagascar. I'd love to see the jeep return alongside a sweet Madagascar track in GT Sport.
Pir-hana Prototype
Gran Turismo regularly features cars that aren't out yet, so why not include a car that's only 30 years away from releasing. The vehicles in WipEout 2048 aren't all that futuristic, so I don't see why I can't rep my Pir-hana colors in the game.
Sly Cooper Van
While the Sly Cooper games may be about stealth platforming, they also feature some fast-paced getaways thanks to Sly's trusty van. If it appeared in Gran Turismo Sport then players could get to pretend that they were Murray, and beat some time trials as if they were a talented getaway driver.
Sweet Tooth
It doesn't look like we'll get a new Twisted Metal game anytime soon, but it doesn't mean that we can't see some familiar faces. Sweet Tooth must recently appeared in Rocket League, but he could also fit into GT Sport pretty well. His weapons could even act as an easy mode for the racer.
Trico
Sometimes the cars in Gran Turismo can be difficult to control, but the true advanced test will be trying to instruct The Last Guardian's Trico. He'll be the fastest "vehicle" in the game, but the controls will randomly not respond at moments, and sometimes he'll take a break during a race in order to do his business.
