Gwent’s Campaign Has Evolved Into Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

gwent single player

What was once billed as Gwent’s single-player campaign will be a completely separate game. The mode was previously known as Thronebreaker, and the upcoming, standalone game will be called Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

The news was announced as part of CD Projekt RED’s financial briefing. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will supposedly be a thirty hour long RPG, during which people will play Gwent in place of battles as they head out on a new adventure in this universe. Whether the planned story for the campaign went through any changes is unknown.

Again, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will be a completely separate game, which means players will not need to own Gwent to play it. A release date has not been provided, although CD Projekt RED said it plans to launch it around the same time as Gwent’s Q4 2018 Homecoming update.

Gwent is immediately available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and its last big update was the Arena mode added in February 2018.
