Well, this is not good. There’s a chance you may not be able to purchase PixelJunk SideScroller on the PlayStation 3 soon. Licensing issues (and apparently some miscommunication) seem to be to blame for all of the game possibly being delisted. While there’s still a chance the game can be saved, the brain behind the franchise isn’t holding out hope.
PixelJunk creator Dylan Cuthbert first brought the issue to light on his Twitter account:
Due to a time limited music licensing agreement between Sony America and the licensing agents (that I wasn’t involved in and thought the license was in perpetuity tbh) there is a possibility that you will not be able to purchase PixelJunk SideScroller after this week.

Cuthbert does note that talks are still ongoing, but he had just learned about the whole ordeal. He says he won’t “hold out much hope for a last minute save,” which of course is a huge blow. A lot can happen, however, so we will just have to see what happens to PixelJunk SideScroller.
This wouldn’t be the first instance of a game being removed from digital storefronts, sadly. Telltale’s Poker Night 2 was recently removed, due to similar legal issues. A range of Marvel titles, including the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games were also delisted earlier in 2018. And let’s not forget our dearly departed P.T. (I sure haven’t).
Of course, even if PixelJunk SideScroller gets removed from the PlayStation store, it will remain on your console if you had purchased it. So, there’s still time break out your PS3 and get the game before it’s too late.
