Devil May Cry 5‘s official listings are live on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Steam – all of which mention online multiplayer for up to three players. It looks like Capcom wasn’t ready for this information to be revealed as its developers are keeping mum upon being quizzed at the Tokyo Game Show 2018.
The game’s PlayStation Store listing states:
- Network Players 2-3 – Full game requires PlayStation Plus membership to access online multiplayer
- Online Play (Optional)
“With Devil May Cry 5, we are focused on delivering a complete single-player action experience,” a Capcom representative told GameSpot. “No multiplayer features have been announced.”
Director Hideaki Itsuno said something similar when Eurogamer spoke to him during the Tokyo Game Show.
“What we want to say is we have designed this game specifically to make the best single-player experience we can, that’s always been the focus,” he said. “In terms of online and multiplayer and what have you… Wait and see.”
Speculation is rife that Devil May Cry 5 will come with a co-op and/or horde mode. With Tokyo Game Show coming to an end this weekend, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little for an official reveal.
Devil May Cry 5 will release on March 8, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
