The PlayStation Classic Will Have Different Games in Japan

playstation classic japan

It’s been only a day since Sony rocked the world with the announcement of the PlayStation Classic, and more news is already coming out about it. During an interview with Famitsu (which was translated by Gematsu), SIE Vice President Hiroyuki Oda said there will be software differences between the Japanese and overseas versions.

The five previously-announced titles will be available in all regions, so it’s possible that there won’t be any major software differences outside of a game or two. Of course, since 75% of its library is still a mystery, who knows what kind of games we’ll see?

In the interview, Oda also mentioned that titles are being carefully selected. According to him, each title needs to be highly popular and “representative” of PlayStation.

Unless Sony wants to surprise us all on the day this is released, we’ll most likely find out the full lineup before the PlayStation Classic releases on December 3, 2018. But if Sony is still deciding on what to include, we’ve recently been covering some classic games that might be good fits. We took a look at tactical RPG Saiyuki: Journey to the West, as well as the iconic Tomb Raider.

Hopefully, the differences do turn out the be minimal, or else some of you will probably be spending quite a pretty penny on getting a PS Classic shipped from Japan. The PS Classic will be available in limited quantities, but it is available for preorder now.

Are there any games you want on this new mini console? Let us know!
